I think what Tami is alluding to is that these types of behaviors--allowing
men to be our "warrior" is problematic when it comes to being successful as
a leader. When we run to have someone "rescue" us when we feel as though we
cannot handle problems on our own, people doubt our leadership ability, and
thus our competency as a leader. This eventually leads to the condescension
Tami mentioned.
I see a number of other problems as well, but including the fact that it is
reductionistic and stereotypical to say that all men prefer to be "handled"
this way by women. Most importantly, it doesn't jive with the biblical
model of ezer kenegdo (helper)--words that denote "power" and "strength".
