Words That Build

"For God has not destined us for wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us so that whether we are awake or asleep we might live with Him. Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing" (1 Thessalonians 5:9-11, ESV).

As believers, as we believe Christ will come again, let us not hesitate to encourage someone else. It can make a huge difference in their day and their week. Words that are full of truth and that lift others up can help all of us remember our Lord and Savior. He can bring life everyday.

Kelli Martin
Earlier this week, a Bible study I am a part of gathered and then went to Wal-Mart and Target in groups. We bought a few things, met people we didn't know and got to pray for some of them. It opened doors for several people to discuss who God is.

We met before and after and were reminded of God, His Word to us and His presence. We discussed sharing our faith and encouraged each other in it. It was neat that later, we got to try to encourage others at Wal-Mart and Target. God gave us the words to say. It was inspiring to hear the group's stories after the trip.

How can you encourage someone this week? Let's praise God that He brings life. We can pray that He fills us up and then overflows to others, so we can lift them up with truth, encouragement and the reminder that our Savior offers life so freely.

What A Special Name!

As you experience God this Christmas season, I pray you personally experience some of the special names of Jesus that we see written in God's Word from Isaiah 9:6.  "For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given:  the government shall be upon His shoulder:  and His name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace..."

I encourage you to make a list about your life today and how Jesus is:
*Wonderful
*Counselor
*The Mighty God
*The Everlasting Father
*The Prince of Peace

I encourage you to make a list of people that you know that need Jesus to be:  Wonderful, Counselor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.  Please be ready to share some specific ways that He could meet the needs of the people that you know that need the Lord, this is a great way to be a witness during the Christmas season!

What are some ways that you could encourage the people that God has placed in your life to look to Jesus for the specific needs they have in their life today?
  • Think about His name and what it means to you each day!
  • Think about His name and what it could mean to someone that needs Jesus!  Do you remember the day you experienced "The Prince of Peace"?  People all around us are searching for that Peace, especially during the Christmas Season!
Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, there is something about that name!

God Is Always There For You!

"In all their affliction He was afflicted, And the angel of His presence saved them; In His love and in His mercy He redeemed them, and He lifted them and carried them all the days of old."  Isaiah 63:9 NASB

God knows your affliction.  He feels your pain.  The Lord promises to carry you through!  You are either in the middle of pain, coming out of pain, or about to experience pain...pain and affliction are a part of life until we see Jesus face to face!

Someone Needs HOPE!  Often people turn to the Lord in the middle of a crisis of pain and affliction.  God Cares!  God is always there for you and those that He has strategically placed in your life that are experiencing situations where they need the Hope that comes from Him!

What are some simple ways you can share HOPE?

H - Share examples from your life when you received Hope from the Lord that helped you through your pain or afflictions?  Share Him & the Hope He has given you!  Jeremiah 29:11-13 says it best! "For I know the plans that I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope.  Then you will call upon Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you.  You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart." (NASB)

O - Share examples from your life when you Opened your life up to the Lord and asked Him to save you!  Share some examples of how He has helped you with your pain or afflictions?  Share Your Testimony With Others!  John 3:16 says it best! “For God so loved the world, that He gave His [a]only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life." (NASB)

P - Share examples from your life about how the Lord has answered your Prayers & Pray for those that are experiencing pain or afflictions!  Romans 10:9-10, 13 says it best!  "if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.  For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes in Him will not be disappointed....for “Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved.” (NASB)

E - Share examples from your life that will Encourage someone that is experiencing pain or afflictions with the encouragement God has given you?  Share God's Promises with those that are hurting!  Here are several promises from God's Word that say it best!; Isaiah 35:3 "Encourage the exhausted, and strengthen the feeble." - Romans 15:5 "Now may the God who gives perseverance and encouragement grant you to be of the same mind with one another according to Christ Jesus" - 1 Thessalonians 5:11 "Therefore encourage one another and build up one another, just as you also are doing." - 1 Thessalonians 5:14 "We urge you, brethren, admonish the unruly, encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, be patient with everyone." & 2 Corinthians 1:3-7 http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=2%20cor%201:3-7&version=NASB (NASB)

Also, when we share songs that are full of Hope, God often uses His Praise & Worship to minister to those that are experiencing pain or afflictions!  He inhabits the Praise of His People = God Is Always There For You!!

Here is an example of one of those songs of encouragement that is based on the Poem "Footprints in the Sand" & goes so beautifully with Isaiah 63:9 NASB  "In all their affliction He was afflicted, And the angel of His presence saved them; In His love and in His mercy He redeemed them, and He lifted them and carried them all the days of old."

Hold On! God's Help Is On The Way!

As I serve and share ministry with women all across our nation, I have met so many precious ones that love the Lord with all their heart, are being used in many gifted ways for God, but still have times in their lives when they need encouragement.  I thank God for the privilege of having His Gift of Encouragement and having the privilege of sharing God's Love and God's Word with others because my life has been encouraged in the same loving ways from the Lord!!  As you are encouraged by the Lord, He reminds you of the calling and purpose upon your life to share Jesus with others.  As you are encouraged by the Lord, always remember that there are people that need the Lord that may not be receiving any love or encouragement in their lives.  They are looking for God's Love and Encouragement, and as a Christian, you have the privilege of sharing with them.  Let's reach out to someone that needs the Lord and share God's Hope today!!  "With the comfort you have been given, comfort others..." 2 Cor. 1:4
Today I would like to encourage you, no matter where you are in your life.  You may be in the middle of a storm, coming out of a storm, or about to go into the storms of life....no matter what there are times in our lives that we need to hear, "Hold On!  God's Help Is On The Way!!"  That is one of my favorite praise and worship songs by Michael W. Smith & Israel Houghton.  As I share the lyrics and actual song with you, my prayer is that you will read each word and be encouraged or encourage someone else with the truths you read.  My prayer is also that as you listen to the actual song, over and over, you will "turn it up" and let God encourage you, lift your chin, and most of all pass it onto someone that God lovingly places in your life that needs His encouragement!!!!  God Loves You!!!!!

People say that time will heal

But you know, they just don't feel what you feel

Times are hard but God is so good

He's never failed you, and He said He never would

He see's your tears

He fights your fears

[Chorus]

Hold on, help is on the way

He said he'd never leave you or forsake you

Stay strong

Help is on the way

He'd said he'd help you

Just reach out and take his hand

He knows your heart, He lifts your head

He's always close enough to hear every word you said

When you're weak, He said He's so much more

His arm is long enough to reach you where you are

He see's your tears

He fights your fears

[Chorus: x2]

[Repeat: x10]

Help is on the way

Freedom!

2 Corinthians 3:17 "Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom."!

John 8:32 "You shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free"!

The 4th of July, Celebration of Freedom, is a great opportunity to share where freedom can be experienced, In Jesus Christ! Who has God placed in our lives that needs Freedom? Freedom from Fear, Freedom from Worry, Freedom from Addictions, Freedom from Debt, Freedom from Sin, Freedom from Loneliness, Freedom from the Cares of This World? As we participate in July 4th Celebrations, let's share where our Freedom is Found = Jesus, with someone that is yearning to be Free!! In Jesus, Everyday can be "Happy Freedom Day"!!

Psalm 33: 1-22

Rejoice in the LORD, you righteous ones;
praise from the upright is beautiful.
Praise the LORD with the lyre;
make music to Him with a ten-stringed harp.

Sing a new song to Him;
play skillfully on the strings, with a joyful shout.

For the word of the LORD is right,
and all His work is trustworthy.

He loves righteousness and justice;
the earth is full of the LORD's unfailing love.

The heavens were made by the word of the LORD,
and all the stars, by the breath of His mouth.

He gathers the waters of the sea into a heap;
He puts the depths into storehouses.

Let the whole earth tremble before the LORD;
let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him.

For He spoke, and it came into being;
He commanded, and it came into existence.

The LORD frustrates the counsel of the nations;
He thwarts the plans of the peoples.

The counsel of the LORD stands forever,
the plans of His heart from generation to generation.

Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD—
the people He has chosen to be His own possession!

The LORD looks down from heaven;
He observes everyone.

He gazes on all the inhabitants of the earth
from His dwelling place.

He alone crafts their hearts;
He considers all their works.

A king is not saved by a large army;
a warrior will not be delivered by great strength.

The horse is a false hope for safety;
it provides no escape by its great power.

Now the eye of the LORD is on those who fear Him—
those who depend on His faithful love

to deliver them from death
and to keep them alive in famine.

We wait for the LORD;
He is our help and shield.

For our hearts rejoice in Him,
because we trust in His holy name.

May Your faithful love rest on us, LORD,
for we put our hope in You."

A Person Named Justa

"Commit your works to the Lord, then it will succeed."  Proverbs 16:3

I read a devotion this week written by Leigh Anne Florence.  She is a woman who has a very creative ministry and does a lot of public speaking .  In this devotion, she said she meets lots of people named "Justa."  She says she asks hem frequently, "So, what do you do?"  The answer she becomes accustomed to hearing is:  I'm just a mom.  I'm just a bank teller.  I'm just a cafeteria workers.  I'm just a secretary.  She says in her article:

"I want to scream.  'You're not just a anything!'  Though they may not mean it, what their statement says to me is they don't feel like what they're doing is important.  It is as if they believe their life is not as purposeful as someone else's.  I always replay, 'You're not just a mom--You're a Mom, a mom to somebody very special and that's great....God doesn't make "just a's.'"

"All throughout Scripture, God uses the common to do the spectacular.  When the angel appeared to Mary and told her she would be the mother of the Christ child, I'm sure she thought, 'I'm just a girl!'  I wonder if David muttered the words, 'I''m just a little boy' when he stood before the giant.  Look at the apostles--they were commonplace every day, run of the ill people, but they were the ones Jesus chose to build His church.  If God can use shepherds, fishermen, young girls, and tax collectors, I am confident He can use each of us." (used by permission from Leigh Anne Florence)

This challenged me to commit ALL my works to the Lord.  "Commit your house cleaning to the Lord, then it will succeed."  "Commit your teaching to the Lord, then it will succeed."   "Commit your women's ministry to the Lord--then it will succeed."  "Commit your evangelism to the Lord, then it will succeed."

Let's encourage each other and the ladies around us that they are not "just a"--they are appointed for different tasks and places of influence!

I am always humbled by Jaye's invitations to serve on her evangelistic ministry team!! When God put our lives together almost 15 years ago, He blessed my life one of the most special GIFTS that I could of every have been given and I will forever be grateful in ways that are too many to count!

It is an exciting day we live in when Creative Strategic Evangelistic Leadership for Women can take place over the Internet as it is used as a gift from God for an evangelistic tool for our postmodern lives! God is faithful to equip us in the Gifts He has given as we Go and share Him through our lives, think with me how He is using blogs, e-mail, websites, instant messages, texting, christian music videos on the Internet, social networks, and the list goes on!! What are some "postmodern" ways that you are seeing Him at work? In our evangelistic gifted2go lives, one way God reminds us and encourages us through His Word as each of us have been given at least one gift or more from God so that He can minister through us, here are a couple of promises that God has encouraged and equipped my life with:
"Do not neglect the gift that is in you..." 1 Timothy 4:14a "Therefore, I remind you to keep ablaze (I LOVE that word!) the gift of God that is in you through the laying on of my hands. For God has not given us a spirit of fearfulness, but one of power, love, and sound judgment." 2 Timothy 1:6-7 (HCSB)

We are full of great anticipation and expectation as we have the privilege of being encouraged and equipped through these Internet blogging waves! As a first-generation Christian, there are so many "firsts" that God has lovingly poured out upon my life that I look forward to sharing with you in the blogs to come, but right now I am experiencing my "first blog" and I thank you for your input and patience with great joy! This BLOGasphere (God may even give us some new first words:-)!) is amazing, just to think, that we are connecting from all over the world as we share from a keyboard, Dear Lord, let this set us ablaze in a new fresh gifted way for your Glory!
We are looking forward in the days, months, years...until Jesus' return of the joy to serve you, pray for you, and cheer you on as The Lord "keeps ablaze the gift of God that is in you" (2 Tim. 1:6b) Please know of my constant prayers for you and my availability to you in any way as the Lord leads us through His Spirit & His Word! One of my prayers, as I close my very first BLOG that I think may have been longer than I expected, is that I pray that you will feel the freedom to share what God has on your heart to evangelistically encourage others or receive encouragement yourself as we are all Gifted2Go praying friends looking to Jesus = The Greatest Gifts for ALL! Go God!!

Cheering You On In The Gifted2Go Blazing Joy Journey With Jesus,

A Simple Way To Share As You GO!

Summertime is often a time of GOing here and GOing there; travel, vacation, outdoor activities, days filled with more sunshine to experience times of togetherness with family and friends, & GREAT opportunities to Share Jesus as we are GOing!
Often while we are GOing there are many people around us that are sharing their services with us; those that help us as we travel, eat out at restaurants, drop clothes off at the dry cleaners, service our car, service our home, service our pets, service us at our favorite vacation spot, etc.!
As we prepare to GO this summer, we can also prepare to SHARE Jesus with others through our words and actions!
Simple Idea: Share a simple note with each person that serves us and include John 3:16 in that note in your own personal GIFTED way! Our words, however brief they may be, may be the ONLY kindness that person has received all day! Our expression of thanks may be the ONLY communication that person has had recently to build them up, encourage them, and SHARE Jesus & His Love with them!!
Jesus said that even a "cup of cold water" given to a thirsty person in His Name was a way of Blessing & Honoring HIM (Mark 9:41)!! WOW, what a Simple Way To Share JESUS as we Share A Cup Of Cold Water to a Spiritually DRY World that needs a special GIFTED2GO word of kind thankful encouragement♥

Only One Thing Is Needed

"Martha, Martha you are anxious and troubled about many things, but only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her." (Luke 10:41-42)

Many of us are familiar with the story about Mary and Martha, where Martha is doing all the preparations and work while Mary goes to sit at the feet of Jesus. Not trying to criticize Martha for being on top of things concerning the workload, I was convicted when I read this "antithesis" of Psalm 23 written by Marcia K. Hornok:

The clock is my dictator, I shall not rest.
It makes me lie down only when exhausted.
It leads me to deep depression.
It hounds my soul.
It leads me in circles of frenzy for activity's sake.
Even though I run frantically from task to task, I will never get it all done.
For my "ideal" is with me.
Deadlines and my need for approval, they drive me.
They demand performance from me, beyond the limits of my schedule.
They anoint my head with migraines.
My in-basket overflows.
Surely fatigue and time pressure shall follow me all the days of my life.
And I will dwell in the bond of frustration forever.

Let us all remember the MAIN THINGS - to keep our fellowship daily with the Lord AND to tell others about him!

Run The Race!

"Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us." Hebrews 12:1

How many of us have been running the race marked out for us and life's circumstances and/or the enemy tries to get us tangled up so that we will stop running?

God's Word gives us the plan we need to persevere as we run the race marked out for us as His witness!
  • Throw Off Everything That Hinders & Easily Entangles Us From Running God's Race!

The Holy Spirit is faithful to show us anything that needs to go! Anything that is causing us to get tripped up and/or stop "on God's straight and narrow track" that leads to knowing Jesus, Sharing Jesus, and Leading Others to do the same! What do we have to do? It is important to know what easily entangles us personally, develop a plan of perseverance, and Obey God!! THROW OFF EVERYTHING that is not helping us Run God's Race! We can get "entangled" in unhealthy attitudes, habits, thoughts, actions, relationships...ask God to search EVERYTHING in our life as we trust Him for His ability to Run Unhindered towards the finish line = JESUS!

  • Run With Perseverance Your Race!

When I run if I look to my right or to my left, I get off track! When I keep my eyes fixed straight ahead on the race marked out personally, I stay on course as His witness and I am able to run with perseverance! God has a race marked out personally for each one of us, as His witnesses. He has specific people that He puts in the path of our race that He strategically organizes supernaturally! How many times have we met someone that we knew God put in our path that needed to hear The Good News about Jesus or needed to hear something specific about our personal testimony? When this happens to me, it gives me a "a kick, a second wind, a burst of spiritual energy" to keep running and keep sharing Jesus! The race we run is like a marathon that requires perseverance! Take heart because Jesus runs ahead of us and prepares the pathway of perseverance! Jesus loves us so much that He gives us "witnesses" that "cheer us on" as we RUN His RACE! Who can we "cheer on" that is Running His Race With Perseverance?

You Can Do It!!! Keep Running God's Race For JESUS!!!!

support in the faith

As I visit family and friends in Texas this week, I am reminded of how God works in so many ways. While I was shopping with my friend, I saw how she spoke of others highly, saying things like, "Won't she be perfect for that?" I think that it was an indication of Christ's joy and kindness living inside of her. In the book Humility, C.J. Mahaney notes that identifying evidences of grace in others around us is a way to live with humility. If we tell others of these evidences of grace that we see in them, I think it would help us encourage each other in our relationships with Christ.

Mahaney points out how Paul thanked God for fellow believers in his letters in the New Testament. For example, Paul writes in Romans 1:8, "First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for all of you, because your faith is being reported all over the world."

Mahaney presents a thought: if we actively look at how God is working in others, we can help them see God's movement in their life. This may motivate people to see how God is moving.
How can we identify the Holy Spirit moving? Galatians 5:22-23a reads, "But the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control." When we see these characteristics flowing out of other believers, we are witnessing God's light shining in our world.

In verse 11 of Romans 1, Paul adds, "I long to see you so that I may impart to you some spiritual gift to make you strong— that is, that you and I may be mutually encouraged by each other's faith."

If we help point out God's light shining through others, then we may strengthen each other in our faith. I pray that we, as leaders and brothers and sisters in the faith, let others know when we see Christ working in their life. Like Mahaney writes, this practice will also help us see how God is at work everywhere!

Remember Your Christian Leaders!

"Remember your leaders who have spoken God’s word to you. As you carefully observe the outcome of their lives, imitate their faith." Hebrews 13:7 (HCSB)

"Remember those who led you, who spoke the word of God to you; and considering the result of their conduct, imitate their faith." Hebrews 13:7 (NASB)

"Appreciate your leaders who gave you the Word of God. Take a good look at the way they live, and let their faithfulness instruct you, as well as their truthfulness. There should be a consistency that runs through us all. For Jesus doesn't change—yesterday, today, tomorrow, he's always totally himself." Hebrews 13:7-8 (The Message)

Tomorrow, October 1st, begins a month of appreciation for ministers across our nation and world! Today my heart is gripped with an unending appreciation and thankfulness for all of the Christian leaders that have impacted my life, men of God and women of God, in countless ways! As a first-generation Christian God has been so incredibly generous and faithful to provide Christian role models in my life, and I NEVER get over the life-changing ways my life has been transformed by Him, His Word, & HIS LEADERS! Today, God has laid it on my heart to list my top five points of appreciation that are extended to every Christian leader that has impacted my life in order for my life to impact others for Christ Alone...I'd like to use God's Promises as each point as I challenge you to appreciate your Christian Leaders too!!!

  1. You are APPRECIATED for how you study God's Word in order to be prepared and model preparedness in the ministry of The Lord! ~ "Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who doesn’t need to be ashamed, correctly teaching the word of truth." 2 Timothy 2:15 (HCSB)

  2. You are APPRECIATED for how you follow God's Vision and share His Plans with a conviction of confidence in the ministry of The Lord! ~ "Then the Lord said to Paul in a night vision, “Don’t be afraid, but keep on speaking and don’t be silent." Acts 18:9 (HCSB)

  3. You are APPRECIATED for how you model servant-hearted leadership in the ministry of the Lord! ~ "So if I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet." John 13:14 (HCSB)

  4. You are APPRECIATED for how you model reality through a consistent praying heart that is quick to forgive and be forgiven through intense prayer in the ministry of the Lord! ~ "Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, so that you may be healed. The intense prayer of the righteous is very powerful." James 5:16 (HCSB)

  5. You are APPRECIATED for how you model evangelism in the ministry of the Lord with a "get up and go" consistent concern for others about where they will spend eternity! ~ "And Jesus said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation." Mark16:15 (HCSB) "The Lord replied, "But get up and stand on your feet. For I have appeared to you for this purpose, to appoint you as a servant and a witness of things you have seen, and things in which I will appear to you. I will rescue you from the people and from the Gentiles, to whom I now send you, to open their eyes that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a share among those who are sanctified by faith in Me." Acts 26:16-18 (HCSB)

God laid on my heart 3 worship songs to share as an appreciation tribute and prayer for all of the Christian Leaders in our lives!!! Click on these songs as we pray for and thank God that He created evangelistic leadership examples for our lives as we all follow Him as our greatest example and strive to be His example of servant-hearted leaders!! Please take this opportunity to thank the Christian leaders that are in your life during the month of October and throughout the entire year! A few ideas of ways to show appreciation: send a thank you card or express appreciation with your words, volunteer to serve in the ministry that they are leading, pray regularly for leaders and let them know you are praying, give a gift certificate, share something from your kitchen that you made just for them, babysit if they have small children so that your leader can enjoy a day or night out, ask how you can serve them.....please share your ideas of ways to show appreciation after you listen to these 2 worship songs!
