Waiting on God

"But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint."  (Isaiah 40:31)

My husband and I bought our first computer in 1985.  We thought it was amazing because we could hook it up to a phone line and click the Internet icon and then over ONE MINUTE LATER the compter would be connected.  Each time we wanted new information, it only took about FORTY-FIVE seconds to come up.  Fast forward twenty-five years!  If our computer takes longer than three seconds to do anything, we get frustrated.  Computers today are so fast that we refer to their processing speed in nanoseconds (1 billionth of a second)  With the technology being refined daily, we get frustrated if anything on the computer takes longer than a couple seconds.

Has our need for instant results affected our ability to wait on God?  Many times we will pray to God about something and then want an instant answer.  (Think of the times you have heard the saying "Lord, I want patience and I want it right NOW.")  We may be praying for the salvation of a friend or family member and we want it to happen NOW.  But for me, the answers seldom come instantly.  I need to confess my "need to know now" attitude and learn how to wait on HIM.  Waiting on God is not always easy.  But God knows best and HIS timing is PERFECT.
