Time for SBC to Lose Some Weight

"Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God" (Hebrews 12:1-2, ESV).

Are we as obsessed with losing weight spiritually as we are physically? I admit to having a long way to go in both arenas. We are to throw off everything that keeps us from being spiritually fit for use in the kingdom. Whether it is sin or the sin of business, we are to focus and run our race for Christ "[laying] aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely" so that we may bring witness and glory to God.

Today, the Great Commission Resurgence (GCR) Report came out. It is time for us, as Southern Baptists, to lay aside some things and lose some weight - in order that we might be more effective - and run our race for Christ. We must look to Jesus and do what needs to be done in order to make the Gospel of Jesus known to every generation.

Read the report, watch the report, and watch the church video. Then let's do what needs to be done and GO! You are Gifted2go!
