Blessed Be the Name of the Lord

"Naked I came from my mother's womb, And naked I shall return there. The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away. Blessed be the name of the Lord. Through all this, Job did not sin, nor did he blame God." Job 1:20-21

If you don't know the story of Job, let me tell you that he lost everything he had in the matter of a very short time. He lost 7,000 sheep, 3,000 camels, 500 yoke of oxen, 500 female donkeys, many servants, but also ALL of his children - seven sons and three daughters. After 35-40 years of marriage, Job's entire family, except for his wife, was wiped out.

The verse above shows Job's response. He blesses the name of the Lord! And God never did explain the answers to WHY all of it happened.

Later on in the book of Job in chapter 23, verse 10 he says, "But He knows the way I take; when He was tried me, I shall come forth as gold." What a response to an unbelievable trial and tragedy."

People noticed how he handled his situation. Who could bless the Lord after all that had happened? Job could, because He knew that God knew the way he took and it was not without purpose. "Trust in the Lord with all your heart; lean not on your understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your path" (Prov. 3:5-6).

May we all handle trials like Job and trust that He indeed knows the way we take!
