True to His Word

"But even if you should suffer for righteousness' sake, you will be blessed. Have no fear of them, nor be troubled, but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect..." (1 Peter 3:14-15, ESV).

Recently, I've seen how God's rich mercy inspires awe in me.  I am in great need of it everyday, as I see how many mistakes I make and how I still have so much to learn.  Christ set an excellent example for mercy, as He died for us while we were still sinners, which we read about in Romans 5:8 (Romans 5:6-11-ESV).

When we give reason for our faith, as we go and share this good news, we can rely on the Word of God and the truth that it gives.  These words help us learn more about God's character, and the Holy Spirit can help us understand them (John 16:12-15-ESV).  His Word has transformed many, and I pray we remember how it can transform others, too.  I pray that as representatives and followers of Christ that we overflow in speaking truth - that we turn to His Word as we go to explain, with grace, the truth of who He is to others.

"In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of his glory" (Ephesians 1:13-14, ESV).

Happy St. Patrick's Day!
